My appreciation of ''La Sagouine''

To be true, I’m not a big theater fan. I often go watch movies and such, but theater? When i entered the Segal center, i thought at first that i was at the wrong place and was kind of lost.. Finally I just followed a bunch of old white haired people into the theater and finally found my seat. When the play began, I was surprised by how well Viola Leger was playing her role as the Sagouine. So much that I had difficulties figuring her outside her role. The story she was telling was interesting, especially the part when she talks about her identity as an Acadian and the differences between them and us, Quebeckers. Even though I had problems understanding what she said, I quite enjoyed it and it made me wish to go see more plays.

When love is gone

The social network, which is a based on true events movie, tells the story surrounding the creation of Facebook. The setting of the movie puts us on the Harvard university campus, massachussets, where Mark Zuckerberg, remarquably played by Jesse Einsenberg, is talking to his girlfriend in a pub. Things seems to go wrong with his girl and they apparently brake up at the end of the conversation. The rest of the movie is a chain of events that lead Facebook’s creator into becoming the youngest billionaire on the earth.
First of all I’d like to talk about the actor’s play in ‘’Social Network’’. <<The film is also a rare showcase of pure acting prowes>> as another reviewer wrote, would be the best way to describe it. Since the movie features no real action, gun fights, blood or explosions, the succes of the movie depended on how the actors would achieve to catch the attention of the audience and make the story interesting to watch. And the fact is that they did awesome.
As the subtitle of the movie says: <<You don’t make 500 million friends without making a few ennemies.>>  Being accused of stealing the idea of an internet based community that lets you share about anything you want with people near or far away, Zuckeberg has to defend himself in court. The court depositions are in fact the ‘’now’’ moments of the movie while the other scenes are flashbacks of his life while facebook was under construction and expanding. While the flashbacks are in a chronological timeline, the whole movies tends to go back and forth between the court procedures and the events that led to the creation of facebook as we know it today.
But why did the movie captivated me so much? First of all it is the story of the american dream. Mark Zuckerberg was a nobody on the campus and then suddently becomes the most popular guy on the campus who gets fame, money and girls. Also it shows very well the complex social interactions and psychology of our generation. <<You very quicly realize that this isn’t a story about the founding of Facebook>>, is what another reviewer said. The Social Network is all about love, hate, friendship. Things that are part of our daily life. They make us want to live and at some point are the key elements to the meaning to our lives. Finally the cinematography was simply amazing.
But the main thing that makes this movie so good is that it reaches me and a lot of people on the planet. We are almost all using facebook, wich is the biggest social phenomene of the decade, and maybe of the century. The duration of the movie is about two hours and was realeased on october 1st 2010.

Shawny Madden: Story of a sharp and nice girl

Shawny Madden is the first student i met in my english class today and getting to know her was a great pleasure. The first thing i wanted to know was what her goals in life were. Probably like every student in college, including myself, the first thing she answered was to get out of there as soon as possible. Like i'm at my 4th session in college and have 2 more to go, i can't say i achieved this goal so well. I did get very impressed. After she's planning to go on to university in French litterature (she reads alot apparently) and even wants to reach a PHB in that domain. Shawny says she wants to become a teacher. Finally, when she'll  become an intellectual genius she'd like to raise a family and have her own house and dog (husband). That sounds like a nice trip to hapiness to me.

After having a manly conversation about cars i asked her what made her proud of herself. First of all she seemed very proud of scoring the highest general grades of her promotion when finishing high shcool. What else?  She seems like being a great traveller and she's very proud of her trips in Europe and America. She went to the now troubled tunisia, visited England, the US and is now planning a trip to Paris. I got kind of jealous when she told me of all the places she went to.

While we were talking about cars a little more ( she's a mechanican at her father's garage... and i'm a guy...) i finally got to ask her what her interests were into. She says that she reads alot, listen to alot of music and of course travelling keeps her alive. She enjoys all those nice hobbies with her friends and her family.
Finally the last thing i got to know was that she was a good communicating women. She likes to write, speak and even played in some theater plays before. Well balanced and intelligent, i'm more than certain that she will achieve her goals and live her life as she want's it to be.
